Delicious Wishlist for WordPress: il mio primo plugin

For the English version of this post click here.

A cosa serve

English Version

I’m very glad to introduce you my first plugin for WordPress: Delicious Wishlist for WordPress. Some time ago, I wrote a post (it’s in Italian, sorry!) where I explained a way to add a function to WordPress to retrieve some bookmarks from my Delicious (based on particular tags) and publish them on a page. Now, that code has been wrapped into an easy-to-use plugin.

The idea behind the plugin is to publish a personal wishlist by fetching my Delicious bookmarks tagged with a particular tag and another tag to mark its importance.

How to use

Install the plugin, activate it and go to the plugin options page. Fill in the fields with your values: your Delicious userID, your ‘wishlist’ tag, etc. Click on ‘Save Changes’ and create a new page and, among the text, paste this:

[[my-delicious-wishlist]]

This is a shortcode that enables the functions of the plugin to fetch your particular Delicious bookmarks. Save the page.

From now on, when you like something you find surfing the Web, bookmark it using Delicious with at least two tags: one for your wishlist and another for the importance of the stuff contained in it. Now the plugin will publish that bookmark according your tags. You can see an example of use in this page.

Other possible uses

The plugin was created in order to publish a wishlist, but you can use it at your will: for example, you could publish a series of bookmarks regarding particular subjects, such as wordpress and security, wordpress and plugin, wordpress and themes. Or journalism and economy, journalism and politics, journalism and TV. Your fantasy is your limit.

Where to download

You can install it in one click using your WordPress administration panel or, if you prefer, you can find it on the WordPress Repository: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/delicious-wishlist-for-wordpress/.

Credits

My huge thanks go to Nicola D’Agostino and Barbara Arianna Ripepi for giving me the idea behind this work.

Last but not least, thanks to all people who gave me a lot of suggestions to improve this plugin.
